Designing real-time visibility into sensitive data at enterprise scale

Designing a CISO dashboard for monitoring and controlling sensitive data across global enterprise systems. The project focused on enabling real-time visibility into complex data flows, helping security leaders quickly understand where sensitive information resides, how it moves, and where potential risks may emerge. The solution needed to support both high-level oversight and rapid investigation - within highly distributed, data-rich environments.

Accellion helps organizations protect sensitive information by enabling secure data sharing with trusted partners. As data moves across systems, teams, and geographies, maintaining visibility and control becomes increasingly complex - especially for CISOs responsible for safeguarding enterprise-wide data flows.

Together with the Accellion team, Cognit designed a new CISO dashboard to provide real-time visibility into all content entering and leaving the organization. The goal was not just to present data, but to enable CISOs to quickly understand where sensitive information resides, how it moves, and where potential risks may emerge.

A central challenge was balancinghigh-level monitoring with the ability to drill down into actionable detail. CISOs need an immediate, global view - while also being able to investigate anomalies and trace specific events without friction.

To address this, we designed amulti-layered visualization hierarchy that supports both rapid situational awareness and deeper analysis. The dashboard allows users to quickly grasp overall data flows, identify unusual patterns, and seamlessly drill down into specific events or entities for further investigation.

The result is a decision-focused interface that helps CISOs move from visibility to action - enabling faster, more confident responses to potential risks across complex, distributed environments.
